Why did you choose this?
Sur La Table Store
Read many reviews for top of the line Dutch Ovens and found this one to provide the most of what I was looking for. Though the Le Creuset sounded good, I like the self basting option of the Staub and it leaks less steam. I also like the fact that the Staub has a metal lid knob. For the money I'm paying I don't like getting plastic.

Familiar with Staub. On wedding registry so selected this rather than another gift.

I have several other pots by Staub and they are of superior quality. I know this will be an heirloom pot and am excited to use it for years to come.

I’ve waited years to buy this. I’m not getting any younger, meanwhile Artisan breads and Osso Buco is waiting for the prefect Dutch oven. The time is now to enjoy making these favorites and this is my treasured pot in which to create these delicacies. Sixty seven years old, I will enjoy this for the rest of my life, then pass on to my niece. It will be paid off next month, why did I wait so long?

Brian W on Dec 26, 2019
I want a versatile cooking vessel that I can also use in a charcoal Weber. I think the cast iron will retain the heat and so more efficient than Graniteware which is lighter. I wouldnt pack this on a hike but for home BBQing fine.

Is this Staub cocotte "marin blue," "sapphire blue," "dark blue"? I'd like to match an existing marin blue item, but I'm afraid that color might be discontinued.
A shopper on May 14, 2016

The Staub Le Grande offered here is considerably cheaper and has slightly bigger capacity. For those who have experience between the two ... besides the lid and slight differences in shape is there any other difference between this 7 qt and the Le Grande 7.4 qt that would explain the price difference. For example, is this 7 qt cocotte thicker and more substantial?

How much does the 7qt coquette weigh?
A shopper on Feb 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I weighed it on a digital food scale. It's 11 pounds for pot and lid. Yes it is heavy, but it cooks food well, is easy to clean, and I love it. I have a medium-sized countertop convection oven and I can fit in just fine. The only problem has been that if it is heavily filled, it bends the oven rack.
