I love staub and have been using a cast iron pan to make crepes. I'm curious to see if this is an improvement on my current pan but cast iron cooks so evenly and Staub is such high quality, that I'm excited to see what kind of crepes I can make.

can straub crepe pan with wooden handle be put in oven
A shopper on Mar 6, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is oven safe up to 500F according to the specifications given by STAUB.
Is this non-stick? I'd like to order it for pancakes, but am scared that they will stick to the surface.
lynda S on Jul 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Like other staub products, it is enamel coated cast iron, it does not need seasoning like uncoated cast iron. Typically crepes have enough butter in them that a slight addition of butter before cooking is all that is needed.

juli m on Aug 7, 2016

I have a glass top range and the biggest burner is only 9inch in diameter can I still use it without any problem since the griddle is 11 inch diameter. I'm concerned if the crepe will cook uniformly on the outer side as well?
A shopper on Sep 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this is a quality crepe pan and heats up quickly and evenly..., even on a smaller burner.
I am hoping not to use additional butter or grease in any way when I make crepes. Hopefully, the batter will contain enough not to have to. What do you think? Please get me your thoughts. Thanks so much.
Jone G on Oct 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I think it would be difficult not to use a small amount of oil. Perhaps an oil spritzer would work well or a spray. I could not do my crepes without a little oil.
Can you please please tell me how to use it? I just tried to make crepes - and I'm pretty good at that, but with this pan they burned in the middle while being undercooked on the sides. Please help!
A shopper on Dec 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Give plenty of time to preheat the pan.
can i use metal tools like a stainless steel turner or a spatula on the griddle?
dee n on Sep 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We use the wooden spatula that came with our crepe pan. I would avoid metal tools with this pan and avoid the possibility of scratching the surface. We love the pan!
Do I need to add heated oil or butter to the crepe pan before the batter, please?
A shopper on Mar 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The first few times you use it, you'll need to put butter/oil in the pan. Over time it will season, i.e. some of the fat will cook on and adhere to the pan, and eventually you won't need to add fat each time. I can't give you more precise information because it depends on the oil you use, the temperature, how aggressively you clean the pan after use, etc.
How do I cure an iron crepe pan?
A shopper on Mar 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I did not need to season my Staub crepe pan. However, the first few crepes of any batch are tossed. I use A light sweep of olive oil for each crepe.

is the handle meant to be loose?
A shopper on Oct 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The handle on mine is not loose. There is a small metal ring where the wood handle meets the metal part that spins/is loose but the handle is solid. Nothing wiggles or is loose. Hope that helps!
What level heat for the 11" crepe pan?
A shopper on Feb 10, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Always use cast iron for crepes at medium heat. They turn out great.
I bought this pan and I used it for the first time and the batter stuck everywhere on it despite using some oil and heating it up slowly. How do I prevent this from happening ?
Vanessa G on Jul 11, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Bought this pan for my husband, whose batter never seems to stick to the pan, so I pestered him for an opinion. His best guess is that the pan wasn't hot enough when the batter was added. His method is to give the pan a long, slow warm-up to cooking temperature on the gas stove, then butter the pan generously immediately before pouring the first crepe.

The dimensions of the Staub Cast Iron Crêpe Pan are given as 10 1/2" X 8". What does the 8" dimension refer to?
Sally A S on Nov 7, 2021
BEST ANSWER: 10 1/2” Is the inside dimension of the pan and the 8” Refers to the length of the handle from the wood out. Not from the cast iron part. If you measure from the cast-iron part of the pan the handle length measures about 10”
